Friend

"Do you want to be my friend?"

"No."

"Why not? Are you my friend?"

"Yes of course I am your friend."

"Then why don't you want to be my friend?"

"I just don't want to, my friend."

"Then, you are not my friend !"

"......"

About writing

"Writing isn't about making money, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends. In the end, it's about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life, as well. It's about getting up, getting well, and getting over. Getting happy, okay? Getting happy." - Stephen King

I copy it from Kempton whom quoted it from the Wikiquote.

From the same list, here's two other quotes that I would like to remember and to share here:

"If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot."

"If you don't have the time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write."

- Stephen King

Have a nice weekend everybody !

Blue baskets

The rhume (the cold) is tiring me these two days. What time did I go to sleep last night though ? !

The sky was bright blue, but my soul blue refused to get out though.

Reluctant I took my bike to go to the metro. I was terribly in late.

Reluctant I would have liked to ride my bike until the office. Breeze was gentle, and

refreshing. Brought me to the underground, the deepest part in my heart.

I sat in front of a beautiful Thai girl, next to a beautiful Thai woman.

She had such a careful perfect make-up... Unreal, just like a Babie girl.

I was admiring her unconsciously, until she started talking with her friend.

I didn't understand a word, but her tone has betrayed her charm.

Babie girl better not to speak.

I look at my worn blue baskets. I am doing fine.

Sorry Chinese folks I am writing here in English again... yes I blog in the office this morning. Shhh...

My 16 things about photography:

1. I started my interest in photography after my first travel alone, after rather several rolls taken by a small Canon I borrowed from my father.

2. I like photographs because it is a lot easier then painting.

3. The first camera I bought myself was a Nikon FM10, when I decided to take photos more seriously.

4. I did take some short courses about photography, in Hongkong and in Paris, like 'reportage by photo'...

5. I use more often with a Panasonic DMC-LZ5 now. Obviously I am not a professional.

6. I like digital camera for it is more economy and ecology.

7. I like mechanical for I find it easier to control technically.

8. I love color, but I prefer taking black & white if I have the opportunity to develop and enlarge them myself.

9. Photographing is a solitude activity.

10. I need time to feel the place and people in front of me before I photograph them.

11. I don't like to be photographed. Not a fair game, i know :P

12. I think some basic photography techniques are required even though we are just amateurs, of course, if we are not satisfied by simply clicking a button. In other words, I think it is hard to take nice photos if we don't possess at least some basic techniques.

13. When I showed my first travel photo album to my father, he critiqued and said "I don't even know what you are photographing!!" . The second time I showed him another album, same comment! Well as usual he is not easy to please ... Until the last time, many years ago, when I have carefully selected and presented my photos in my own layout, he admired and said, "is that you who took those pictures ?" I guess, 'presentation' has done the job.

14. There are several things that a good photographer requires, I think : talent, technique, observation, heart, mood, patient, then the last but not the least, respect to the others.

15. Successful photos are not always counted on the gamme of cameras or power of lens used. Many famous photographers have left us brilliant oeuvres taken with standard 50mm lens.

16. I remember one of the teachers once told us: you don't 'zoom' to your object, you 'go' to your object.

17. (extra) I have recently discovered this site via blogger Hongkie. Their blog articles give often nice tips in photography, written by 10 different professional photographers.

【photo】: Roots / 根

If those roots are essentiel to that little island, would it sink if roots are taken?

One Minute

Have just discoverd that interesting The One Minute Writer, via Blogger's 'Blogs of Note'. The idea is simple: read the writing prompt, then write something in the 'Comments' section within one minute!

Shall I take the opportunity to remind those in Paris that the annual 《Nuit Blanche》would be back again tonight in Paris.

''Nuit Blanche' (White Night) is an annual over-night cultural event created in Paris since 2002. The festival starts from sunset until sunrise next day, the whole city's light is on and being turned into a real fairy tale. Numerous artists participate and their works are shown in several spots in the city.

Nowadays, this event has been spread over the world and many cities are holding the same festival!

For those who are interested, Brussels, Toronto, Valletta would hold the same event on the same day this year!

Bonne soirée!

Do you know what is this plant in the photo?

photo taken in Munduk, a small village in Bali, Indonesia

At altitude of 800m, according to guidebooks, Munduk is a nice base to do easy trekking in its surrounding. There are also, together with other villages in the area, many nice plantations because of the weather. That fruit in the photo is one of the product in the region.

Answer:
Coffee. Berries are green when immature, then turn to yellow, red, and finally black.

Mobile Art in Hongkong

Have just learnt from Hong Kong Digital Vision (an excellent photo blog of a Hongkong guy Chris Lee) that The Mobile Art designed by Zaha Hadid is in the Star Ferry car park in Hongkong until the 5th April.

The Mobile Art is a Chanel comptemporary art container and twenty-one artists work on the project! According to the official site, this Art Container will be travelled to Tokyo in May, to New York in September, to London in June 2009, to Moscow in September 2009, and to Paris in January 2010!

Dear Hongkong readers, if you have already visited that container, I would like to know your comments about it: how you feel about it, does it worth visiting, do you call it art... Thanks in advance for your sharing.

【photo】: The Wall for Peace

No new photo this week. Here's a photo rather cliché that I've taken in the afternoon when I took this one, which may give a more precise idea (perhaps specially to MC ;) of how those steel columns looks like.

Regarding The Wall for Peace, I have already mentioned in the before-mentioned post. You may also go directly to their site for more information.

Have a nice weekend everybody!
